History of A Baseball

It all started with the man Joseph H Shockley. He was the first to make the baseball. It is wapped in yarn and covered in leather. It's 9.25 inches in diameter. The yarn or string used to make the laces on the ball can be up to one mile in length.
Cushioned cork cores were patented in the late 19th century. During World War 2 rubber centers from golf balls were used. Using different types of materials affects the performance of the baseball. Generally a tighter-wound baseball will jump off the bat faster and go farther. Since the baseballs used today are wound tighter than in previous years.

They say the height of the seams on a baseball can help the pitcher throw his pitches better. In little leaugue the seams are bigger than a major leaugue baseball. In the beginning of baseball only one ball was used in each game. Unless it was too damaged to be used then they would get a different one. People would go get the balls hit into the stands so they could use them again.
Baseballs would often lose there color due to the dirt. Baseballs would rip and the seams would start to rip. After the death of batter from being hit in the head by a baseball. They think it was from the baseball getting dirty. So now they make sure to keep a clean ball in play at all times.

Before they used two baseballs one for the American league and one for the National league. Now they both just play with one major league baseball. A Major League baseball has a diameter of 2 3/8" to 3", weighs between 5 and 5.25 ounces and is 9 to 9.25" in circumference.
Today dozens of baseballs are used in a baseball game due to the ball being messed up and ripped or not having the right feeling on the ball. Foul balls and home run balls can be kept unless the ball is requested back if its somebody first home run or anything like that. In return the fan could get an autographed bat or something autographed. Also the baseball has as many laces on it as the beads on a roseary.

There is some imformation about the baseball. I have told you who made the first baseball, what its made of, how many baseballs they use in there games, the size of the baseball. That is enough to know about a baseball.
